God’s Kingdom Within Reach

“Jesus taught us that the kingdom of God is near, close, not far away, among us, within us, and people are pressing into it. To participate in this kingdom we are called to live in a state of deeply honest and perpetual re-cognition. I believe that there is a current reality of true peace and joy that we miss out on because the subtle influence of institutionalized Christianity has shifted our focus far away from the present and, like the Pharisees, has “shut the kingdom of heaven in front of people”. Unhealthy religion refuses to live in the present; it will either push out hope into a distant future or long for traditions of the past.”

Anthony Green

I was born and raised in England but have lived in central Illinois for the last 22 yrs after meeting my wife, Lydia doing missionary work in Jamaica. We now have 2 children, Jack and Ellie. I have been self-employed for 22 years as a tile craftsman, specialising in residential custom showers. I'm also a history nerd at heart and have love for everything old, especially architectural salvage which inevitably gets included at every turn into the remodeling of our house. I keep bees, collect antique glass bottles and occasionally metal detect too, although time doesn't lend itself well to the latter anymore. I have a deep fascination with Greek and Roman culture and church history. I'm currently listening through the mystical and contemplative traditions of the middle ages. When their work on me is done, I will follow wherever they point me to next.
